My Thoughts on Comments

My Thoughts on Comments

All of these comments come from the article posted by the Washington Post.
This first commenter, Bass1, can be seen as reasonable. This commenter is wish in that he wishes the right call was made. I feel this commenter holds the valuable of being reasonable. He disagrees with the call yet he can see why it was made. Many people refuse to see both sides, only claiming there was one right call, but as he said, even if they ran the ball it could have been stopped.. He admits that the play was a bad call but he tells how he could see why the play call made sense.

I found the commenter Pro-lifeForALL to be reasonable as well. He starts off with saying that it was not guaranteed that Lynch would have scored. He seems to be expressing fear the play wouldn't have worked either way. I can tell from this commenters username that he/she is prolife. Not that prolife has much of a relationship to football. I can tell this commenter is reasonable as he give more credit to the Patriots rather than blame to the Seahawks.

This commenter is most likely commenting out of wish as he comes off as a big Seahawks fan. This commenter holds the beliefs that the Patriots are cheaters and that the NFL must be conspiring with them. Clearly this fan was very upset about the game and thus unreasonable. This commenter is not trustworthy at all as he is clearly very biased. He says the Patriots have different rules and while it is ok to be upset over the game he/she is clearly a sore loser.

This commenter is very angry and is trying to stir the pot. He starts off with a irrelevant fact in that Pete Carroll is a 9/11 truther. True or not that is irrelevant to the game or the play. This comment shows this person does not have much in terms of values. While it is hard to tell if he is trolling or not he does seem to have his name as his username. But this could be a fake name. While this commenter is most likely a troll he makes no valid points. This commenter has no creditability as all he does is call Pete Carroll a moron. If it is his real name then he would be creditable but he still makes no valid points or adds anything to the discussion with his comment.

Reflection:
Upon reading the blog posts on comments from Chloe and Annelise. Both of them provided commenters that seemed very reliable on their respective subjects. Through using relevant diction to having background info on the subject, I agreed that their commenters were reliable. I really liked how Annelise pointed out the red flags for her unreliable commenters right of the bat. I hadn't even thought that a profile picture could potentially make a commenter unreliable but I agreed with her that in that case it did.

My Controversy

My Controversy

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2015/02/02/super-bowl-2015-botched-play-call-changes-history-for-seahawks-patriots-ups-deflategate-stakes/

While my controversy does not have a huge effect on a lot of people, it had a big emotional impact on me. I was born and raised in the Seattle are so the Seattle Seahawks have always been my favorite NFL team. In 2014 we won the Super Bowl (for those who are not familiar with football that is the championship). In 2015 we made it back. The frenzy in Seattle was like nothing I've ever seen before. Nearly every store, person, and car had something Seahawks related. We played the New England Patriots in this years Super Bowl. I don't think a team has ever come closer to winning the game and lost as the Seahawks did. After being down, they drove down the field with nearly no time left. They were literally half of a yard from getting into the end zone and winning. Then Pete Carroll made one of the most controversial calls in NFL history. Instead of handing it off to Marshawn Lynch, one of the best running backs in all of football, he made the call to have Russell Wilson throw the ball. The ball was intercepted and the Seahawks lost the game. It was devastating. Millions around the country (except for those in New England) were left with their mouths on the floor. Why would you throw the ball?! Lynch would have easily scored. It was one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life. This article, which comes from Washington Post, gives Carrolls response in that he did not like the matchup on the field thus, he called for a pass. However, there is really no excuse and he made one of the worst and most controversial call in NFL and left millions around the country, including myself, heartbroken.

Calendar Reflection

Calendar Reflection

In order to be a successful college student one must perfect the art of time management. They must manage the amount of fun they are having with the real reason they are at college, academics. I feel that overall if I follow my weekly calendar I should have no problem having the best time of my life while still being successful academically. I have 32 hours a week set aside for homework which gives more time than the suggested 6 hours per class as I have 5 classes. I also have set aside time to try to go to the gym every day. While some mornings it will definitely be hard to get up and go to the gym, it is something I need to do to stay healthy and keep myself from the freshman fifteen. All through my life I have been able to manage my time very well and my priority here is to be very success academically. If I maintain my drive to be academically successful and follow my weekly calendar schedule I see no reason why I would not be successful.

Reflection:
When I read Jenny's blog I learned a helpful tip that I had never used before. That tip is put my phone away when trying to get work done. This would be very helpful as I get distracted very easily when doing homework and I would be able to get my work done faster and with efficiency. It's also nice to know that everyone will be going through the same thing as me and will have to manage their time well to be successful academic.

I also read Addie's blog, and I really agreed that this class will require more than 6 hours a week. It will be difficult to manage especially since I have a heavy class schedule just like Addie. I also want to do the same as her which is writing everyday rather then saving it for the end of the week. Reading her post really made me realize how much work will have to be out in outside of class.

My Writing Process

My Writing Process

Each individual has their own personal writing process. Whether a person plans out every single detail of their work or writes each word as it comes into their head, there are various writing processes that work for various people.

1.  I consider myself to be a heavy planner because I am not a big fan in revising. Because of this I want my first draft to be very strong so I won't have to heavily edit my papers. I will map out all of my ideas and the information or sources will be established before I began while maybe adding a source or two and editing out what I wrote too quick. Even though I heavily plan my outline, I will write the rest as it comes.

2.  My process really only incorporates the heavy planner style. But I will go back through my    papers, locating weak word choice and replacing those weak words with stronger words or rearranging the sentence so I won't have weak words. I also make sure all my grammar is correct.
    3.  I have been successful in the past with this writing process. It strengths include that I don't find myself struggling to find more to add and that I know what direction I am going to take the paper from the very beginning. One weakness of this process is that I often make a lot of mistakes that I need to fix which requires time to make right.
      4.  I think I could be beneficial to try the heavy reviser process as I think that I could learn how to be a better reviser in the process. It would not benefit me to try the writing process of procrastinating because that would be very stressful and I prefer to get my work started early so I have time to perfect it.
      Reflection:
As I read both Chloe's blog and Ann's blog I discovered my writing style is similar to both of theirs. I related to Chloe is that while I am a heavy planner I tend to write as I go. She also stated that she thought it would be beneficial to try the heavy revision approach which I definitely feel the same way about. Ann and I share the same writing style of being heavy planner. She said that she struggles with writing when she doesn't have efficient time to plan which I completely agree with. Lucky for her she said that she is able to revise her planned drafts which is an area I struggle in.
